Birds are a very popular pet and offer friendly companionship and affection. Birds bring color, song, vocalization and amusement and many birds form strong attachments to people and make excellent companions. They all need lots of space because the cage maybe the only exercise they receive.  Birds are one of the cheapest pets to own and don’t require daily walks or monthly flea meds. Cage paper should be changed daily, and the cage disinfected weekly although their droppings have no odor.  Fresh food and water should be given daily or more often if necessary. First-time bird owners should avoid the more expensive species and start with Finches, Canaries, or a Parakeet. Finches have a life expectancy of 5 to 8 years and might be a better choice if you are not home much. Canaries and Parakeets live between 5 to 15 years and large parrots may live 30 to 50 years.
