Deciding to bring a pet into your life is a big move, but chances are good that your life will be better than ever with the companionship of your new best friend. When you are ready to make room in your heart and life for a pet, contact one of our wonderful Shelter and Rescue organizations to help you find your new family member, and if you’re not sure if you’re ready, how about volunteering? Our local rescue organizations ALWAYS need volunteers! Or use your special talents and organize an event to give-back, until you’re ready to decide.
A pet gives round the clock love and affection without asking for much in return. Consider a senior pet, they are looking for the same love and affection and you’ll be helping each other. A pet won’t love you and then change their mind or ditch you at the last minute like humans; they’re always there for you and always need you.
Loving and nurturing a pet may help you feel like you’re accomplishing something. After all, you are taking care of another living thing. There’s a certain parent-like pride you feel in watching your pet grow strong, healthy and happy.
A pet will not judge or disagree with you, they can only listen (even if it can’t understand a word you’re saying, at least you’re getting things off your chest). No more having to wait your turn to talk . . . what more could you ask for?
Our beautiful dog friendly Jupiter Beach and parks offer you many options. A dog will get you outside to walk, run and ultimately relax your mind, and strengthen your body and spirit. If you’re not into exercise, you may want a more independent animal like a cat or opt for fish, turtles, birds or hamsters.
Owning a pet is a great way to give yourself emotional support because pets fill the gaps in ways that people can’t.
The proof is out there! For years dogs have been used to provide alternative care to sick children and the elderly. At the very least, they have shown to lift patients’ spirits and speed up recovery to a certain degree. They have a natural ability to cheer people up. A highly stressful job can impact your health but having a pet relieves the tension built up during your day. Playing with your dog or cat, or even watching your fish swim for 20 minutes can help you relax and enjoy life.
